VIT-B & UMBC 1+1 Master’s Programs in Data Science

VIT-B students can begin at UMBC in the fall or spring semester after completing the first year of courses at VIT-B. Students are expected to take the following courses at VIT-B

  • CS6104 Data Base Management Systems
  • CS 6102 Python for Data Analytics
  • CS 7302 Big Data Analysis
  • CS7201 Machine Learning

The table below shows the UMBC and VIT-B Course Mapping. Students who receive a B or better grade in the VIT-B courses must submit a Transfer of Credits form after admission to UMBC.

These transfer students will take DATA 605, DATA 607, and an elective in their first semester at UMBC. They will take two electives and DATA 606 in their second semester at UMBC.

Important Notes:

  • The VIT-B courses can be awarded in transfer to UMBC based on successful grades being earned (minimum of a ‘B’ grade).
  • Moreover, Students who complete the required courses listed above with a minimum GPA of 3.0 in their majors will earn the M.P.S. degree from UMBC.
  • If the student has taken some other courses not mentioned above, then these courses might be accepted as an elective. The students are expected to provide full syllabi of such courses before they submit their “Transfer of Credits” form.
